AKC Conformation for those who have never been to one probably conjures a scene from the film "Best in Show". Bad Azz Dogz visited the 2019 West Volusia Kennel Club show and were overwhelmed by the fun friendly and loving crowd they met..
The area was crowded with people from near and far. Often dressed their best with their Bad Azz Dogz shining too. Grooming stations circled the halls.
Again and again, it was the smiles, hospitality and good humor that was most striking and may it one of the most memorable events we've attended this year. AKC Conformation event.
Categories from Junior Handler to Puppy to Breed to Class. Pretty much something for everyone and with multiple judging rings, plenty to see too.

Best Foot (Or Paw) Forward..
With so many categories, it is not surprising that the shear variety of breeds and owners is vast and growing more diverse yearly.
So it was an unexpected to surprise to meet "Vinden" and their Bi-Bed Brooke. Why Though?
Vinden is a Norwegian Elkhound. Not a common dog, but not especially rare either. What makes this one so special?
They are Florida's only "show" Elkhound. Brooke was clearly prod of her own Bad Azz Dog and they both looked their best for the judges. However, today was not the day, but the real reward was in competing together in something they love to do.
The official term for dog shows is conformation — as in, the act of conforming or producing conformity. While a dog show may look like a beauty pageant, it’s not. Dogs are not being compared to each other; they’re being measured by how closely they conform to the standard of their particular breed. - American Kennel Club
Levels for everyone..
The Conformation Trial has a very diverse audience and ever growing popularity with the AKC's increasing efforts to reach out and not wait for new blood to come to them. Events from single breed local events to larger events like this in Deland all lead to Westminster.

The AKC West Volusia Kennel Club (WVKC) is a long established canine organization. Involved in areas from training to seeing and advocating legal protections for our dogs in Florida.
The September Dog Show is a yearly event. If you have not attended an AKC "Cluster" Dog show yet? We can't being to tell you, what you are missing.
Our members are interested pet owners, breeders and exhibitors of conformation, obedience, rally and other competitive dog sports. - WVKC
