Lure Coursing at the AKC West Volusia Cluster Sep 2018..
All dogs do "Zoomies" (Random bursts of energy), so why not focus some of that pent up energy and go Lure Coursing! Coursing is an ancient sport where scent hounds would race after a very unfortunate bunny. In Lure Coursing, there is not only a more humane sport, but one most every breed can participate in.
The massive four day AKC Cluster vent in Deland Florida included multiple competitions, from NADD Dock Diving to AKC Confirmation Trials (Check out Our Features on Each). The Lure Coursing is a newer and fast growing competition and the new Dog Sport Unlimited had hosting honors.

Lure Coursing as developed in the AKC was traditionally for purebred "Sighthounds" (Greyhounds, Whippets, etc), but with the addition of the "Coursing Ability Test" an ever increasing number of every breed, size and color Bad Azz Lure Courser has emerged to compete in "FastCat"
Lure coursing is a sport for dogs that involves chasing a mechanically operated lure. Competition is typically limited to dogs of purebred sighthound breeds, although the AKC has a pass/fail trial for all breeds called the Coursing Ability Test... which in turn has evolved into the "FastCat" - Sources AKC-wiki

Like most modern canine competition, there are categories from Junoir-Master Courser. There is a priority in safety and best practices to ensure not the good stewardship of the dogs, but to allow all participants a fun and memorable activity in this fast growing community..
How do I get my pup racing too?
The AKC official site has a large amount of resources and their definitions and judging rules. How and where are a little less clear.
