D.A.R.E. dachshund rescues annual fundraiser at Keel Farms, Florida

The annual fundraiser for the Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education (D.A.R.E.) was at the beautiful Keels Farm in Polk City, Florida this last Saturday. The 50's themed activities ran throughout the day. From a wide variety of vendors selling various wares and Courteous Canine running a mini lure course for all dogs. Concluding with FWDD Weiner Dog Derby was the days highlight event.
Fox 13 Good Day Tampa Bay co-host Charley Belcher acted as MC for events on the central stage that started at 10am and ran through to 3pm. Hundreds attended this year’s event; many with their own pups. The excitement and crowds make this one “go to” event and returns the first Saturday in November 2026. See you there!

The Tampa Bay based rescue has continued to grow over the years. They state in their mission: https://daretorescue.org/about-us/
“Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) mission is to increase public awareness through education against animal cruelty, related issues, and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs in the state of Florida.” – D.A.R.E.
Providing shelter and active education on proper care of all Dachshund and pure and mixed breeds. Foster homes care for dozens of Dachshunds till they can find there “forever home”. Like most fosters, they depend on volunteers and foster homes to make it all possible. Check out their official site for information on you can help:
Florida Weiner Dog Derby (FWDD)
Now 15 years old, the nation’s largest dachshund racing league is always a highlight at a dozen annual events around Florida. The short straight track and launch boxes are perfect for the short legs. Check out the next FWDD event and learn more:
